When the BIO national convention begins June 19 in San Diego, Connecticut will have a conspicuous presence, showcasing the bioscience businesses support structure that have established the state as a leader in the life sciences area.

At the center of the action will be the Connecticut booth, #2717 in the San Diego Convention Center. It will be open June 20-22 from 10:30 am to 5:30 pm.

Scheduled to speak at the booth on June 20 at 4:00 pm, courtesy of The Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine (JAX),  is Dr. Mark Adams, Director of Microbial Genomic Services.

The study of microbiomes has had a transformative effect on biological an biomedical research, and JAX, whose laboratory in Farmington has recruited nearly 300 scientists to the state,  has joined other Connecticut organizations in creating the Connecticut Microbiome Initiative to foster growth and development in this important area.
