DESCRIPTION:State venture funds are playing an increasingly important role in building regional innovation ecosystems. \nThis panel brings together leaders from three of the Northeast’s most active public VC programs — Connecticut Innovations\, New York State’s NY Ventures\, and the New Jersey Economic Development Authority — for a candid discussion on how government capital is shaping the next generation of startups. \nPanelists will discuss how their funds source and evaluate deals\, what differentiates public venture capital from traditional VC\, and where they see the biggest opportunities for founders and investors across the region. Stick around afterwards for a happy hour with the founders and VCs. \nMeet the panelists: \nDanny Qiao is a Director on Connecticut Innovations’ investment team\, where he leads the team’s consumer and international investment efforts. She has served on the board of the National Venture Capital Association and held leadership roles with Tompkins Financial Corporation and the Upstate Capital Association of New York. We will have open networking and breakfast 8:30-9am\, gather for some quick words and highlights 9-9:30am\, and continue building relationships 9:30-10:30am. Hope to see you there! \nThank you to Webster Bank and Wiggin & Dana for making CT Founders Club possible! \nWebster Bank is a $75B commercial bank offering a full suite of banking services to companies in all stages of their business life cycle. Founded nearly 90 years ago\, Webster remains headquartered in Connecticut with offices and clients across the country. Webster’s array of products and services meet the needs of not only its business clients but also their founders and employees. \nWiggin and Dana is widely recognized for providing practical\, business-focused legal support to companies across the U.S. and around the world. Headquartered in Connecticut with offices in key locations along the East Coast\, the firm pairs deep experience with business-focused judgment\, working with companies at every stage of their life cycle\, from early-stage startups to mature\, scaling enterprises. By staffing matters with attorneys whose expertise aligns directly with a company’s needs and growth trajectory\, Wiggin and Dana delivers responsive\, efficient\, and cost‑effective counsel that helps businesses move forward with confidence. \nBackground on CT Founders Club: \nWe heard from many CT-based founders that they don’t have a solid local group of likeminded people to share intros\, tips\, and the up & down journey of startup life with. Let’s change that! If you’re a founder all-in on building a high scale potential company\, CT Founders Club is for you. We gather every 6-8 weeks for breakfast\, happy hour\, or dinner and making CT a great place to start and grow a game-changing company. \nRules of CT Founders Club: \n1. Be Vulnerable: be yourself and ask for what you need. It’s brutally hard to start and grow a company. For those that have done it\, don’t glorify it\, be honest\, share your challenges and mistakes\, as well as the wins. \n2. Give first: rising tide lifts all boats\, let’s make CT a better place to build startups. Come to each event with your A game and the intention to help at least one person you meet in some way (sales pitch feedback\, customer / investor / talent intro\, brainstorm session\, etc.). \n3. Don’t be an asshole: treat others like you want to be treated. If you offer something follow through. \n4. No soliciting: any help offered is free and without the expectation of anything in return (see rule #3). \n5. Be inclusive: everyone started somewhere\, include and support everyone (except #3). \n6. Respect the time put into organizing: if you rsvp\, come on time. If something comes up\, communicate. \n7. What happens at CT Founders Club stays there: respect people’s vulnerability and transparency and treat what’s shared as confidential. \nThis event wouldn’t be possible without some great collaborators! \nConnecticut Innovations is Connecticut’s venture capital arm and the leading source of financing and ongoing support for innovative\, growing companies. \nThe Angel Investor Forum (AIF) is a private network in Fairfield\, CT\, that hosts monthly pitch events where vetted startups present to potential investors. Joining AIF offers access to investment opportunities\, educational resources\, and a collaborative community of experienced professionals.

SUMMARY:Beyond the Pitch Webinar: What First-Time Founders Don't See Coming - Hosted by LaunchBio
DESCRIPTION:Almost no deal gets done in one meeting\, and the person you pitched is rarely the person who decides. A founder’s story has to survive being retold without you in the room\, adapt as you move from second meeting to partner presentation to diligence\, and keep working in the moments you least expect\, including the silence\, the soft no\, and the monthly update. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDetails\n\n\n\n\nJoin LaunchBio for part three of our Beyond the Pitch series featuring Joanna Ghayad\, PharmD\, PCC\, Executive Coach and Business Advisor for first-time founders\, for a practical look at what actually happens after your pitch lands with an investor. \nIn this session\, Joanna addresses the three things founders consistently miss when preparing for investor conversations: \n\nHow to make your story portable enough that your champion can sell it internally\nHow to shift the altitude of your narrative as the process advances instead of repeating the same pitch\nHow to keep the story alive between meetings in ways that build trust and turn a “not now” into a future lead.

SUMMARY:2026 Walk to End Alzheimer's - Greater New Haven
DESCRIPTION:  \n \nHeld annually in more than 600 communities nationwide\, the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s® is the world’s largest fundraiser for Alzheimer’s care\, support and research. This inspiring event calls on participants of all ages and abilities to join the fight against the disease. \nSince 1989\, the Alzheimer’s Association mobilized millions of Americans in the Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk® ; now the Alzheimer’s Association is continuing to lead the way with Walk to End Alzheimer’s. \nWhile there is no fee to register for Walk\, all participants are encouraged to raise critical funds that allow the Alzheimer’s Association to provide 24/7 care and support and advance research toward methods of prevention\, treatment and\, ultimately\, a cure. \nWhere do the funds go?\nAll funds raised through Walk to End Alzheimer’s further the care\, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association. The Alzheimer’s Association is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization. All donations are tax-deductible as allowed by law. \nDo I have to register in order to Walk?\nYes\, we want to know you’re walking with us and need every participant to sign a standard waiver through their official registration. There is no registration fee for Walk. However\, we ask every participant to make a personal donation and commit to raising funds in the fight against Alzheimer’s. Register here. \nDo I need to register my children for Walk?\nYes\, children should register. Parents/guardians can register children online or complete an offline registration form and sign the waiver on behalf of the child. \nDoes every participant get a T-shirt?\nEvery registered participant who achieves the fundraising minimum of $100 will receive an official Walk to End Alzheimer’s T-shirt via USPS. To receive a shirt in time for Walk day\, participants must raise the T-shirt minimum at least four weeks prior to the event. \nHow do I get my offline donations to show up on my personal fundraising web page?\nDonations can be made offline by submitting a check or money order by mail or hand-delivering to the local Alzheimer’s Association office. Be sure to include your offline donation form\, which can be found in your Participant Center or on your fundraising web page\, to make sure you receive credit for the donation. Donations typically take one to two weeks to show up on your web page. Don’t want to wait? You can also deposit checks directly to your Walk page from the Walk to End Alzheimer’s mobile app for iPhone or Android. \n\nHow do I volunteer? \nSign up to volunteer here. \n\n\nRoute Length: 1 mile \nContact:\nEmily Rorke | 860.362.0963 | earorke@alz.org
