SUMMARY:Scientifically Speaking: Better Health from the Inside Out - Hosted by The Jackson Laboratory
DESCRIPTION:At The Jackson Laboratory\, young scientists are pursuing big discoveries that come in small packages — microbes\, cells\, genes and other tiny building blocks of life. See how these scientific leaders are reshaping our understanding of human disease at our upcoming Scientifically Speaking event. \nDaniel Alfonso Peñarete\, Ph.D.\nPostdoctoral Associate \nWhat if the microbes in your gut could help predict or even prevent disease? Daniel is using advanced “organ-on-a-chip” technology to study how these tiny organisms interact with our immune system. \nRamalakshmi Ramasamy\, Ph.D.\nPostdoctoral Associate \nCan aging begin before we’re even born? Ramalakshmi is investigating how certain cells in the placenta stop dividing during pregnancy — a process that may hold clues to early aging and maternal health. \n

SUMMARY:The Artificial Intelligence Agenda from Capitol Hill to State Capitals: Where We Are and Where We Are (Probably) Going - Hosted by Crowell & Moring
DESCRIPTION:The landscape of AI governance and regulation is shifting. Following the release of the White House’s “America’s AI Action Plan” in July 2025 and the President’s signing of related Executive Orders\, the White House has emphasized (at least rhetorically) a preference for innovation\, adoption\, and deregulation. But that does not tell the entire story. The Administration remains committed to exercising a heavy hand in AI\, including by banning the U.S. government’s procurement of so-called “woke AI\,” intervening in the development of data centers and the export of the AI technology stack\, imposing an export fee for certain semiconductors to China\, and assuming a stake in a U.S. semiconductor company. State legislatures are also racing to implement their own regulations\, particularly around AI’s use in critical areas\, such as healthcare\, labor and employment\, and data privacy. The many sources of regulation raise the specter of a fragmented compliance environment for businesses. \nThis webinar will delve into the Administration’s AI strategy\, going beyond the headlines to analyze: \n\nThe federal AI regulatory landscape\, including the White House’s “America’s AI Action Plan” and related Executive Orders;\nThe tension between key state laws and certain federal regulations;\nCompliance challenges for companies operating in the AI industry posed by multiple sources of regulation; and\nWhat we can expect in the near future.\n\nSpeakers: \n\nLinda Malek\, Partner & CHS Managing Director – New York\nMatthew F. Ferraro\, Partner – Washington\nJacob Canter\, Counsel – San Francisco\nAnna Z. Saber\, Counsel – San Francisco\n\n
