General Information:
Phasen has two separate functional areas.
One provides consulting services for strategic planning, clinical trial design, medical monitoring, data analysis, and document preparation.
The other directs and funds laboratory studies designed to identify a low molecular weight molecule that causes triglyceride breakdown in adipocytes. This molecule is made by a human melanoma cell line, is water soluble and is not inhibited by propranolol at concentrations that block isoproterenol. The partially purified material is active in mouse 3T3-L1 cells as well as primary human adipocytes. Further purification and characterization is currently ongoing.
