Dura Biotech leverages its world-class simulation capability to both develop novel heart valve designs and to perform patient-specific pre-operative planning. The company has developed the Dura Heart Valve, a minimally invasive valve that lasts 4 times longer than other valves, the LowPro Valve, a minimally invasive valve that is 40% smaller than the competition, and VirtuTAV, a patient-specific pre-operative planning tool that aids clinicians in planning minimally-invasive heart valve intervention. Both the Dura Heart Valve and the LowPro Valve are made possible by the patent-pending Dura Valve Leaflet Technology, a stress-reducing leaflet design originally developed by the founders while performing heart valve research at the University of Connecticut. Dura Biotech is a UConn Technology Incubation Program (TIP) company and is located on the Storrs campus.
