General Information
R Systems NA, Inc. provides on-demand, High Performance Computing resources customized for a diverse group of clients in the commercial and academic research communities. Global customers include those in the Bio-Tech, Electronics, Financial Services, Oil & Gas, Manufacturing, Motor Sports, Pharmaceuticals and Wind Energy industries.

R Systems founding partners started at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign and now lead our team of engineers to custom design each cluster configuration to fit our clients’ specific usage requirements while providing world-class administration and support. Users focus on achieving results rather than the burden and cost of systems management. R Systems provides all the tools for improved time to solution in a simple, cost-effective offering.

R Systems configures clusters to include Windows or Linux Operating Systems, optimal core count, networking, memory and security for cluster usage on a utility (pay-as-you-go) or dedicated basis. Customers utilize servers in R Systems data centers in Champaign, Illinois as well as Austin and Houston, Texas. R Systems also utilizes technology partnerships with leading edge hardware and software companies to optimize, scale-up and/or revolutionize our customers’ HPC applications.

R Systems recently incorporated in the U.K. as R Systems HPC Ltd.

Research Activities
R Systems supports research work in many arenas. As one example, when University of Illinois faculty member Jian Ma needed high performance computing resources to assemble several mammalian genomes, it was suggested he contact R Systems. “I did not know these resources were available,” stated Ma. “R Systems has world class HPC resources that can assist any researcher with next-generation sequencing data analysis projects. We received record breaking performance and had the genome sequence completed in less than 8 hours. Not only did the hardware blow away our expectations, the service provided by R Systems was outstanding. Without their systems and support, this project would have taken months to finish. We went from bare metal to the same configuration we use on our internal resources in a very short period of time. They were there to walk us through the system and answer any questions we had before we stared our project.” R Systems also has developing capabilities in Hadoop and bleeding edge big data analytics.
