The unofficial results for the Connecticut General Assembly that includes 151 members in the House of Representatives and 36 members in the State Senate are in.
BioCT congratulates and looks forward to partnering with all our legislators in a crucial fiscal session starting in January.

All four Co-chairs of the Bioscience Caucus; Sen. Christine Cohen, Sen. Tony Hwang, Rep. Jonathan Steinberg, and Rep. David Yaccarino, have all won re-election.

Rep. Holly Cheeseman, Ranking Member of the Finance Committee, and Senator Seminara, Ranking Member of the Human Services Committee, did not win re-election. There will be a new Ranking House Member of the Finance Committee and a new Ranking Member of the Senate on the Human Services Committee. Also, Rep. Cindy Harrison, Ranking Member of the Commerce Committee, did not seek re-election. There will be a new Ranking Member on the Commerce Committee.

The Senate Democrats picked up one seat resulting with a 25-11 Democrat majority in the State Senate. The House Democrats picked up 5 seats which gives them a 102-49 Democrat majority.

There were some incumbents that were confirmed to have lost their bid for reelection:

House: 
District 22 – Incumbent Rep. Francis Cooley (R) lost to Rebecca Martinez (D).
District 37 – Incumbent Rep. Holly Cheeseman (R) lost to Nick Menapace (D).
District 38 – Incumbent Rep. Kathleen McCarty (R) lost to Nicholas Gauthier (D).
District 65 – Incumbent Rep. Michelle Cook (D) lost to Joseph Canino (R).
District 120 – Incumbent Rep. Laura Dancho (R) lost to Kaitlyn Shake (D).
District 138 – Incumbent Rep. Rachel Chaleski (R) lost to Kenneth Gucker (D).
District 149 – Incumbent Rep. Rachel Khanna (D) lost to Tina Courpas (R).

Senate:
District 8 – Incumbent Senator Lisa Seminara (R) lost to Paul Honig (D).

There were 14 open seats in the Connecticut State General Assembly. Following are those candidates that won in an open seat:

Sujata Gadkar-Wilcox (D) – 22nd Senate District

On Feb 27, Connecticut Innovations (CI) will be hosting their first-ever talent fair at District New Haven from 1:00 to 4:30pm. The fair will connect select group of CI companies with top-tier students from surrounding universities. Students who attend will hear from a panel of early-stage founders, meet with more than a dozen CI portfolio companies seeking emerging talent, and get the chance to participate in activities like career development workshops, local giveaways and professional headshot sessions.
