PLSI Policy Update: Impact of Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) on Patient Access and Update on 340B Transparency Website

During the event, Pioneer Institute Dr. Bill Smith and Dr. Robert Popovian will highlight updates and new data in the first-of-its-kind PLSI 50-state mapping tool and database on 340B that uncovers the troubling way in which hospitals and covered entities leverage unlimited pharmacy contracts under the program. The new information will allow any interested party to investigate the percentage of charity care for all 340B covered entity hospitals and, for the first time, uncover the percentage of charity care provided by those institutions for insured and uninsured patients.

Additionally, Bill and Robert will share a preview of a forthcoming PLSI transparency tool that will investigate and track the impact of new Medicare changes implemented by the Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBM) brought forth by the IRA concerning Medicare Part D prescription drug formulary changes and patient access and affordability of products that have gone through Maximum Fair Price (MFP) price setting. The tool will be updated regularly and include products selected for negotiation in the future.
