Greg Evans from the National Cancer Institute (NCI), NIH will present an overview of NIH-wide aspects of the federal SBIR/STTR programs, and then will discuss NCI-specific aspects of these programs, and how NCI manages its SBIR/STTR programs a little differently from other parts of NIH. NCI offers research funding for small businesses in the form of Phase I, II, IIB, and Fast-Track grants, and of Phase I, II, and Fast-Track SBIR contracts. The Phase IIB Bridge grant is a matching fund program that leverages private sector investment. Finally, Greg will highlight a number of resources other than research funding that NCI offers to aid commercialization of new cancer products by small businesses, including mentorship in commercialization organized by product type, I-Corps entrepreneurship training, help with fundraising, and help with regulatory strategies. Greg’s slides will be shared with anyone who wants them.
