A remarkable and longstanding partnership between two allies in Connecticut’s cancer control arena has led to an unprecedented joint summit on Cancer Patient Navigation. This event represents both the 9th Annual Connecticut Policy Forum and CCP’s 19th Annual Meeting.
Focus:
Navigating the intricacies of the healthcare system often poses significant challenges, a situation that is further compounded for historically marginalized populations. Patient navigators play a crucial role in addressing these challenges by enhancing cancer screening rates and ensuring that patients have access to vital services, including cancer prevention information, access to screening, care coordination, and symptom management. Moreover, patient navigators are instrumental throughout the entire cancer journey, from the initial diagnosis through to survivorship, providing consistent support and guidance. The multifaceted benefits of patient navigation not only enhance the quality of care for patients but also contribute to cost reductions for healthcare providers and the broader healthcare system, ultimately fostering a more equitable and efficient approach to cancer care.
The event will focus on the current landscape of patient navigation in Connecticut as well as the future and access to expansion and sustainability of patient navigation services throughout the state. Our keynote speaker and panelists will delve into critical issues such as cost savings and enhancements in treatment adherence and increased satisfaction for both patients and providers. Furthermore, we will tackle the significant impact on health equity and explore innovative strategies to bolster patient navigation through sustainable reimbursement models, pilot programs, and comprehensive certification and training initiatives.

Participants will include diverse stakeholders in our communities – patient advocates, payors, health systems, business leaders, providers, patients, and lawmakers.
