Join WIB-Connecticut for an evening of wine and cheese! Our host and sommelier, Peter Klann from The Good Food Project, will show us how to select, enjoy and describe both wine and cheese and how to pair them like a pro.
Participants will need to purchase any three wines and cheeses before the event. Peter will show us how to explore them, identify what we like and why, and buy and pair with confidence. He’ll explain how to recognize and describe the tastes, aromas, and flavors in a variety of wines and cheeses, and uncover the science behind pairing wine and food. We’ll discuss the varietals, what they have in common, their terroir and notes, as well as how to use a tasting wheel. We’ll go over tasting, focusing on the impact each wine’s location and grape blend has on its flavor profile. Next, we’ll discuss what makes each cheese unique and the qualities that come from the milk choice and aging process, tasting as we go. Then we’ll combine the two experiences and experiment with pairing each cheese with the wine varieties.
There will be a time in the end for questions to ensure everyone leaves with a new understanding of how to pair wine and cheese like experts!
