U.S. Senator Chris Murphy has named Intensity Therapeutics, based in Westport, June’s “Innovator of the Month.”
Intensity Therapeutics is a clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on discovering, developing, and commercializing first-in-class cancer drugs that treat tumors with minimal side effects, while also training the patient’s own immune system to fight the cancer.
Intensity is developing intratumoral immunotherapy products that when directly injected into solid tumors, kill the tumor and induce immune system recognition of cancer cells. Their lead drug, INT230-6, is currently in clinical trials, and preliminary data has shown significant improvements in survival rates without the side effects of traditional cancer treatments.
