BIO invites participation in a survey: “Understanding Key Elements of the Biopharma Supply Chain”Recent discussions in Washington, D.C. have highlighted national security concerns regarding China-owned and China-based Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs) and Contract Development and Manufacturing Organizations (CDMOs). As part of BIO’s advocacy efforts, they are conducting interviews and case studies to assess potential business dislocation and patient impact resulting from any separation from China-CDMOs. This survey aims to gauge the current reliance of the US biotechnology sector on China-CDMOs and to estimate the effort and time needed for potential decoupling.

BIO supports policies that ensure the security of global biopharma supply chains without compromising patient health or privacy. Through initiatives like the BIOSECURE Act, they advocate for informed decision-making among federal lawmakers regarding the complexities of supply chain operations and the potential risks to patient health, including the risk of drug shortages.

Access the survey here, and complete by May 3rd.

This was a monumental week with BioCT moving into office space within Biolabs at 101 College. Having a New Haven space amongst our members and a place to host our team, external meetings, and large events is a giant leap forward in enabling our goals – and the very reason why our Board member Carter Winstanley invested in this stunning space in the heart of New Haven. We kicked off our move by hosting ReST Therapeutics.

Later, I ran over to RDAC – the Rare Disease Advisory Council for the State – to make public comments on SB 8. SB 8 An Act Concerning Drug Affordability was voted out of the Judiciary Committee along party lines 24-11 on April 22 and is back on the Senate Calendar awaiting action. Opposition to this bill is mounting as public awareness of the unintended consequences grows. We all agree that patients should be able to access the medicines they need. Therefore, we are partnering with patient advocates on a better path.

There is an op-ed  in the CT Post on the legislation, and the following are links to ads that Pfizer is running in CT against SB 8.
