The General Law Committee advanced Senate Bill 2, An Act Concerning Artificial Intelligence to the Senate floor by a unanimous 22-0 vote. This bill is among the Senate Democratic Caucus’ priorities this legislatives session. Despite this unanimous committee vote, the bill is still a “work in progress” until it reaches a vote on the floor of the Senate, likely later this month. The bill seeks, among other things, to establish a framework around the development, deployment and use of certain AI systems that make consequential decisions to minimize the risk of algorithmic discrimination. BioCT formed a subcommittee of stakeholders including Yale, Boehringer Ingelheim, Pfizer, GSK, Abbvie, Bristol Myers Squibb, and The Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine. They have been reviewing the most recent draft and are preparing for continued work with the legislature on the bill,
