The Connecticut General Assembly has less than 50 days of session remaining.  Several legislative committees are beginning to hit their final deadlines for voting on bills. The Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committee and the Appropriations Committee have the latest deadlines ending respectively on April 4th and April 5th. The legislature will be having session more frequently with one scheduled on May 25th.  Mid-April through adjournment on May 8th will be busy with session days to take final action on bills.The Commerce Committee held a public hearing on a number of bills including SB 379 AN ACT INCREASING THE RATE OF THE CREDIT REFUND VALUE FOR CERTAIN EXPENDITURES BY BIOTECHNOLOGY COMPANIES. Following is a link to the bill 2024SB-00379-R00-SB.PDF (ct.gov)

Both Chairs of the Commerce Committee mentioned another bill that they were working on SB 250 AN ACT ESTABLISHING THE GLOBAL ENTREPRENEUR IN RESIDENCE PROGRAM. This bill would allow the University of Connecticut to develop a three-year pilot program, which will be known as the “Global Entrepreneur in Residence Program” for resident entrepreneurs to be employed on a part-time basis by a resident entrepreneur employer. Testimony will be submitted in support of this bill.
