Welcome to BioCT’s Weekly Roundup! Read on for the latest industry news, resources, and opportunities. |
|
This week, anything outside the AI Summit taking place at Boehringer Ingelheim tomorrow would take a back seat. However, we have exciting news to share: the BioCT team is now complete with the addition of Roberta Di Giorgio as the Head of Communications.
For me, Roberta marks BioCT’s evolution by luring another industry veteran to our emerging not-for-profit. Her experience speaks for itself. I know Roberta’s former colleagues at Pfizer and Alexion are thrilled to partner with her in this new role. What made Roberta the obvious choice was her motivation in seeking this role. She could have easily taken a remote role at another pharma outside the state, but she made a personal, and therefore professional, commitment to plant and grow her roots here by contributing to the industry’s success.
Roberta represents BioCT’s progress. Tomorrow, we host an AI Summit in Ridgefield drawing 300 life science executives and legislators from around the country. It’s another event with another long waitlist; highlighting the fact that BioCT’s events are not be missed — and we have the traction to attract and retain top talent.

Tell us about yourself.
I have 20 years’ experience as a thought partner and communications strategist for global companies interested in impactful and innovative communications. I’ve had the privilege of working in the biopharmaceutical space for the lion share of my career. Working in this space has been incredibly meaningful because I’ve been able to contribute to broader organizational missions of improving the lives of patients and their families.
What excites you about working in communications?
Communications is really about storytelling and it’s what motivates me to go to work every day. I’m passionate about the power of storytelling to build organizational identities and brands, as well as connect people.
What drew you to BioCT?
Joining an organization that serves as the industry voice for the life sciences ecosystem in Connecticut represented a terrific opportunity for me. I look forward to supporting BioCT’s mission, working with its vibrant community of innovators, and continuing to build the visibility of the organization.
What are you most proud of?
Overall, leveraging communications to shine a light on the journey of patients and their families has been incredibly rewarding for me. I’m proud of the work that I’ve done to help various internal and external audiences understand the patient journey and experience.
How do you spend your free time?
My favorite pastimes include sailing, reading, and playing the piano. I also volunteer as a Public Relations Advisor for Pink Aid, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping underserved breast cancer patients. |
