Alexion has announced expansion of its Kendall Square office in Cambridge, MA while reaffirming its commitment to Connecticut. An AstraZeneca representative pointed to the impressive growth of the life sciences sector in New Haven and Alexion’s commitment to space in the new biotech tower being built at 101 College Street.


Alexion is a global biopharmaceutical company focused on developing and delivering life-transforming therapies for patients with devastating and rare disorders.

Innovators to receive $100K+ in Prizes at Yale Innovation Summit

May 17-18 will see Yale’s largest entrepreneurship event and Connecticut’s largest gathering of Venture Capitalists, the Yale Innovation Summit 2022. There will be 24 live pitches a E-poster presentations resulting a $100,000+ prizes.

CYduct Diagnostics is focused on transformative products that will enable physicians to intervene at the earliest stages of breast cancer.

The company currently develops, produces, and markets medical devices for the risk assessment, identification, diagnosis and ultimately treatment of early-stage breast cancer.  All from within the mammary ductal system, where 95% of all breast cancer originates. Its core clinical activities are focused on the proteomic analysis of protein biomarkers associated with breast cancer which are found within ductal fluid. Learn more.

Five Connecticut Startups Take Home $54,000 in Grants at Latest CTNext Entrepreneur Innovation Awards in Hartford

CTNext, Connecticut’s go-to resource for entrepreneurial support, today announced the winners of the Entrepreneur Innovation Awards (EIA), held on Wednesday, May 4, at Parkville Market in Hartford. Ten early-stage companies competed for cash prizes to be used toward growing their respective businesses.

In all, CTNext awarded $54,000 to the following entrants:

  • Bo-Yi (Stamford): A superfoods company bringing the health and vitality of traditional Chinese herbs to Western shelves, while honoring the rich traditions of Asian ancestry.
  • Doctionary (New Haven): Creator of a digital medical keyboard to assist healthcare providers.
  • Empedics (New Haven): A startup empowering emergency medicine physicians to treat musculoskeletal injuries faster.
  • Sedentary Medical Solutions (Cromwell): A medical device company that keeps the elderly safe and independent.
  • Lactation Consultants (New Hartford): A company developing technologies to encourage optimal breastfeeding experiences for infants and mothers and to share the data wirelessly.

The five Connecticut-based companies were among 10 startups that presented their project ideas to a panel of judges for an opportunity to secure $10,000 awards to help support business growth. In addition to the grand prize, Lactation Consultants captured an additional $4,000 by winning the Fan Favorite and Judges Favorite awards.
